Dumpster Rental Tips For Your Next Property Clean-Up Project

Yard, home, and property cleanup can produce tons of waste and items you no longer need, but you can look into a local disposal company to provide you with a rented dumpster for its collection and eventual disposal. Here are some tips to help you know what to expect when you are renting your next dumpster for a cleanup project.

Know Your Capacity Requirements

The first step in renting your dumpster is to know how much dumpster capacity or its size you will need. When you contact your disposal company, ask them about the various sizes of dumpsters they have and how much waste each size can hold. You may not want to overfill the dumpster by piling the waste up above its edges too high, as this will make it difficult to remove when you are finished. It is better to rent a larger-sized dumpster and have enough space to place all your waste into.

Plan for Its Placement

Before the dumpster arrives, make sure you decide on where you want it placed. Most dumpsters cannot be placed on a city street and will need to sit on your property in a convenient spot for easy filling. For example, placing the dumpster on the driveway or directly below a second-story window will make it easy for you to dump items into it.

Make Cleanup and Disposal Easy

During your cleanup project, you may have a variety of different materials that you need to dispose of from your yard or home. Often, you will not even know everything you will need to clean up until you start your project and begin to sort through the top layers of the material being removed.

For example, if you are completing a demolition inside your home and discover there is old electrical wiring you need to tear out or insulation that has mold, then you should contact the dumpster company to make sure you are allowed to place these items into the dumpster. Some items need to be disposed of in a specific way and may not be able to be tossed into the dumpster headed for your local landfill.

Some items can be recycled and should be taken to a recycling service to keep them out of the landfill. As an example, you might need to demolition a concrete slab during your cleanup. However, concrete may not be allowed in your dumpster container unless you request one specifically for concrete, due to its weight. But, concrete is a product that can be easily recycled into aggregate for new concrete projects. Ask your dumpster provider for a local recycle company or look online to find one. They may even be able to come to your property to pick up the concrete waste.
